For health: Bad Wiessee

The town on the western bank of the lake has long stands for the healing qualities of nature. As legend has it, in the year 1441, a monk found an oil spring, the oil from which had a soothing effect and became known as “stone oil of Tegernsee”. This story is honored in the St. Quirin chapel by the Bad Wiessee golf course.

Almost 500 years later, in his search for petroleum, the Dutch explorer Adrian Stoop discovered Bad Wiessee’s curative waters, which transpired to be the most concentrated iodine sulphur spring in Germany.

Now there’s more to attract people to Bad Wiessee than its medicinal springs and specialist clinics. The landscape at the foot of the Aueralm and Fockenstein Mountain works wonders for the body and soul.

There are breathtaking views along the idyllic footpaths and cycle routes. In summer, you can improve your golfing skills on a challenging 18-hole golf course with picturesque panoramas, while in winter, you can explore the area along many cross-country ski trails. And the lakeside promenade is the perfect place for a stroll all year long. For a different kind of adventure, you can try your luck in the casino. The casino’s Winner’s Lounge is also known for its regular cabaret and comedy events.

Did you know?

More than 222 concerts take place in Bad Wiessee every year - many right on the lake.

Ingemar Stenmark won the slalom at Sonnenbichl in 1982 - Marc Giradelli, Phil and Steve Mahre, among others, also took part.

4,000,000 liters of oil were pumped in Bad Wiessee - too little to become the Texas of Germany - but then rather a health resort.

5 lives in Bad Wiessee, much more in the casino and welcomes you all year round.

In the Winner's Lounge there are 180 seats to experience stars of the artist scene up close.

Bad Wiessee has been a spa since 1922.

The health resort has one of the most beautiful 18-hole golf courses in Germany with a direct view of the Alps and the lake.
